for the last 3 years the organization the foundation has funded stem education direct lending first year 2019 2020 not pick up because covid caught us off-guard Landslide so we've had two directors what we have representation from the communication department will be gone friend put together to allow this to happen to allow our school too boost forward in the stem realm of schooling if you want to thank you for all the hands that have prepared blessing to the students that come through Lord he loves you so much we are so grateful they were able to have a building like this especially of this is a sponsoring entity of the last Academy I would like to express our appreciation and congratulations to the academy leadership for did Big a step that now it's being taken care of tomorrow if that is that is to express our gratitude to you first of all for what you have done for this to school for more than a hundred years how you have made provision for generations to learn the pallet the because then I could reach a broader range because last night about how there's a lot of problems in our society and become inspired students to be people who challenges affecting our society I spent a lot of really long nights in the stem Center and I spent almost every single been here since August 40 hours and it's because it was to honor my mother's and my grandfather's Legacy Oaks Elementary a poem about the soul of a child really greatly about young people and about how we need to invest in them thing we can do is underestimate them that we don't realize how much my grandfather has a my mother is father he has an amazing pattern Amazing Story prior to 1970 there was no Public High School which is my hometown is working as a high school professor in the University High School High School for most of the Town children weren't able to go past junior high so what does that mean for us to be if most of the population is not able to get a higher education past Junior High because education was away for him breakthrough properties do not have a good reputation and he was one of the first class is there I think back in the 1940s that it was open but he realized he had this dream to start a heist and the biology teacher and another physics teacher they decided to start teaching classes the community and so they found someone who was willing to lend building it was a car dealership so all the glass as a teacher teaching classes in a car dealership and that's that's where they began into high schools so what they would do is anytime any of them had a prep they would rush over to this car dealership and teach classes to any child that wanted to come to learn eventually that inspired other teachers to join them so they were able to get Humanities besides just teaching science and physics let's do something about vacation in our town and they started with these three science classes for the community and they're giving up time this is being a service if the purpose of the church is said to be of service in our communities like send it and eventually since the program really took off is only people who had money in the community high school cuz the nearest high school was over an hour away in Monterey I'm inspired by my grandfather died because he saw that there was a need and he wasn't looking for monetary gain or recognition it was simply that there was a need to be filled and he did it so I have this quote that I like to share with my students play easy for any of us confidence in ourselves and that is Sting must be so they all have a talent within them actually interesting things that we need to do whatever we need to do I have short and long-term goals for this program short-term goals August the short-term goals I have one long-term goals I have for so much of myself into the states and the people who see the problems that are and the courage dedication to give themselves to make things happen even if there is no
