About Me

Hi, my name is Brad Brandmeyer and here is a little bit about me. As a boy, I went to Lodi Elementary school in Northern California. My father was the band teacher there and I learned to play the baritone horn in his bands. As a jr. high student I developed a great interest in skateboarding and continued to ride ramps and pools throughout my high school years. At age 14 my dad began teaching at San Pasqual Academy in San Diego. I graduated in 1982 and still maintain close friendships with many San Pasqual alumni. After working several jobs including my own business doing house and commercial cleaning, I decided that I would pursue my true calling - art. I also met my wife Sandy at about the same time and have been happily married for 19 years. I attended Palomar College in San Marcos, CA for a couple of years and was later accepted at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. I graduated with honors from Art Center with a bachelor of arts degree in Illustration in 1996. After a few years of doing freelance illustration for clients such as Delta Airlines, Sky and Telescope Magazine, the Grammy Awards and other less exciting clients, I began teaching at the First Street Gallery Art Center In Claremont, CA, a day facility for adults with special needs. I began teaching here at GAA in March of 1999 and have been enjoying life ever since. I have two sons. My son Tristan is a Sophomore in high school here at GAA, and my son Kenton is a third grader at GAE. I love painting urban LA landscapes in oils and am also working on a series of more experimental oil paintings based on ink and water color drawings from my sketchbooks. I will post some of them soon. Give me a call, email, or stop by and see our beautiful new art room. I'll look forward to seeing you!
