At the beginning of each semester, the Academic Standards Committee considers students for membership in the National Honor Society. Students wishing to be considered must submit information, addressed to the attention of the NHS Adviser, on or before the 10th of August (for Fall membership--Juniors and Seniors only) or the 10th of January (for Spring membership--Sophomore through Seniors). If the tenth of the month falls on a weekend or a time when the school is closed, the deadline is extended to the next day that the school office is open.
At minimum, a student must meet all of the following before being becoming eligible for consideration: (note: eligibility for consideration does not guarantee NHS membership)
1. attend GAA for the last three consecutive semesters
2. earn 3.5 or higher GPA during each of the last three semesters at GAA
3. earn 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA
4. earn an A in Citizenship (with no issues of concern on record during the past four quarters at GAA enrollment)
5. earn A or B in Attendance in the two quarters before requesting consideration
6. be on no probation during the last four quarters at GAA
7. be on track to earn a College Preparatory or Advanced College Preparatory Diploma
8. submit a completed NHS information packet on or before the published deadline (the packet is attached to this email as a .pdf)
