Thespian Troupe 6807

The International Thespian Society (ITS), a division of the Educational Theatre Association, is the honorary theatre organization for students in high school and middle school. The ITS offers everything from varied performance venues to college audition opportunities to formal awards and scholarships. Since 1929, more than two million students, schools, and educators have benefited from ITS membership. Students qualify for membership by earning points for their work in the theatre arts. One point is equal to ten hours of excellent work. A student must obtain a minimum of ten points. In addition, these points must be earned in a minimum of two productions and must be from two different production areas (i.e., acting and stage management). Once inducted, a student member receives a certificate, a personalized membership card, a one-year (nine issues) subscription to Dramatics magazine, eligibility for scholarships, college financing, and further awards within ITS. Once a student has been submitted to the home office for induction, he or she is a Thespian for life. Some well known members are, Tom Hanks, Kathy Bates, Dick Van Dyke, Kelly Clarkson, and Wayne Brady. All who got their start in highschool drama. Currently we have over 20 members in our troupe. Our officers meet once a month and the whole club meets at least once a quarter. Some of our past activities have been volunteering as victims for the L.A. County Disaster Drill, Wicked, touring Falcon Theatre in Burbank, and meeting with Garry Marshall.
